About Eilis Dolan
I am a qualified CORU registered optometrist. I am a member of the Federation of ophthalmic and dispensing opticians Ireland. (FODO).
In 2013 I was appointed to the Optical Registration Regulatory board by the Minister for Health. During this five-year term, I was involved in the regulation of the profession of optometry and dispensing opticians under the auspices of CORU. CORU is the agency responsible for the regulation of health care professionals in Ireland.
I also represented the independent optometrists while sitting on the executive chair of the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians for over six years.
I am continuously figuring out better ways of delivering high standards of eye care to others. I am particularly concerned about the rural displacement of people who are unable to access primary eye care in the larger towns. Consequently, I conceived the idea of developing a mobile eye clinic which is now serving every rural town in this region on a regular basis.
Blueway Mobile vision is the name of this latest business initiative designed to serve the people in this region and beyond. My view is that, If the people can’t come to us, then we must bring our services to them and deliver a high standard of eye care to rural communities in Ireland. No-one should be deprived of primary eye care because of their geographical location. It is therefore incumbent on me to ensure that these people receive the services that they deserve. This was the premise of my mobile eye service development.
My focus has always been and continues to be patient-centred.
I pride myself on delivering the highest standard of eye care while offering a very personalised service to everyone. You are not just a number in my eyes. You are a real person with individual needs.
